The bamboo hoop is one of the great classics of gold jewelry, and its segmented shape is what makes it recognizable from across a room. The hoop is formed in sections that swell and narrow like a stalk of bamboo, so the light breaks into bright bands along the curve instead of a single line.

This medium version measures 25.00 mm long and 23.00 mm wide, with an approximate weight of 2.7 g. The segments also give the hoop a pleasing texture under the fingertips. It hangs just below the lobe and has enough presence to be the only piece you wear, yet stays light for daily use.

How a snap lock hoop closes

A snap lock is built into the hoop itself. A hinged post swings across, passes through the piercing and clicks into a catch on the other side, which turns the hoop into one closed circle that cannot slide out. To take it off, ease the post out of the catch and swing it open. No click means the post is not seated yet.
