14k Two-Tone Gold Diamond Accent Station Basket Weave Bracelet (3.80 mm)

Two-tone only works when the boundary between the metals is deliberate. Yellow meeting white through a soft transition looks like tarnish; yellow meeting white at a hard edge looks like a decision. That is the first argument for bezel setting on this bracelet, because a bezel is a continuous collar of metal closed around the stone, and a collar draws precisely the kind of finished outline that holds the white gold stations apart from the yellow weave surrounding them.

The bezel is doing gemological work as well. The stones are J color and I2 clarity, 0.20 cttw across the stations, and both grades are helped by that collar. Much of what an I2 grade describes reaches the surface at the girdle, the widest edge of a round stone, and the girdle is exactly what a bezel covers and a prong leaves exposed. Color behaves too: against yellow gold a J face-up reads as warm rather than tinted, since there is no cold white metal beside it insisting on the comparison.
