The closure on this one is a box clasp, and on a braided bracelet it is the only sensible answer. A folded tongue slides into a channel and locks with a click, so the load is carried inside the box in shear rather than by a hook that can be levered open under a sleeve. It also sits flush with the band, which matters here more than on a chain: a braid is a continuous pattern, and hardware standing above the surface would break the run of it at exactly the point the eye follows around the wrist.
Braiding solves a problem specific to heavy gold.
