A 1.75 cttw scallop-set round diamond engagement ring in solid 14K white gold, its natural diamonds led by a 1.46 ct center stone, I (near-colorless) in color and I1 (included) in clarity. Scallop setting is defined by what the goldsmith takes away. Between each pair of stones the metal is cut down into a curve, so the row becomes a series of arcs instead of a continuous wall. More of each girdle stays exposed, less metal shows in profile, and the band gets lighter without the stones losing any security.
