A 4.70mm puffed mariner link bracelet in solid 14K yellow gold, 7 inches, about 3.9 grams. A wrist gets washed, and whatever is on it gets washed too. This bracelet goes under the tap with your hands several times a day, collects hand cream afterward, then meets soap again, and it happens without anyone deciding to clean anything. What builds up is less dirt than a dried film of the two, and it gathers precisely where nobody looks: down inside the link joints, along the undersides, in the angles a cloth cannot reach.
