A diamond station necklace in solid 14K yellow gold, 18 inches, with 0.24 ct of natural diamonds in bezel settings. Diamond color is judged face-down against a white tray, unset, under controlled light. Dropped into yellow gold, a near-colorless stone is read by the eye against the warmth of the metal touching it, which is why an I-J grade looks whiter in a yellow setting than the identical stone does in white. The grade describes the stone. The metal decides what you actually see.
A bezel is the maximum-contact setting, gold wrapped fully around each stone, so that borrowed warmth is at its strongest here. It is also the flattest way to hold a diamond.
