A 5.00mm petite tubogas bracelet in solid 14K yellow gold, 7.25 inches, about 6.7 grams, with a box clasp. There is no gap anywhere on this bracelet. That sounds like a small claim until you have worked a link bracelet free of a knit sleeve or found a hair wound through a hinge. Tubogas is built by wrapping a continuous ribbon of gold around a form in a tight spiral, so the outer surface closes on itself. Nothing catches in it because there is nowhere for anything to enter.
The flex follows the same logic. A link bracelet bends at its joints, which means a handful of small points absorb all of the movement and all of the wear. A coil spreads that bend across every turn along its length, so no single place is working harder than the rest.
